Abstract
"This Just In" piece on "Portraits in a Time of War," a controversial art exhibit on view at the Kennebunk Free Library. The exhibit, by Kennebunk artist Gerald "Bud" Swenson, is a series of stylized faces made from cloth pieces cut out of American flags. After initially approving the show, library trustees canceled it the day before Swenson was to hang the art. Two days later, the trustees met and decided the show would go on. Janet Cate, library director, says the show's month-long run will now be augmented by two public forums, where anyone can come and discuss the works. Swenson says he is very pleased, adding that "censorship has been stopped cold."
