Abstract
Portland designers describe how they would redo a drab house at 25 Summer St. whose price has been cut to $199,500 after months on the market. With designs by Becca Casey of PDT Architects; a mystery prospect who almost bought the house; Chris Dornbach of Kaplan Thompson Architects; and Deb Andrews, preservation program manager for the City of Portland. Andrews would restore the house using information from Portland's 1924 tax photos and preserve its relationship to similar neighboring houses. Rita Yarnold of Bay Realty estimates the market value of the house for each renovation.
