Abstract

“Style” piece looks at several grand Maine houses that are reminiscent of the English manor house, including the Walter Davis Mansion on Portland’s Western Promenade, Oaklands in Gardiner, and Fairfields in Kennebunk. With a brief survey of other mansions around the state and a sidebar on the servants of Bar Harbor’s summer cottages.
