Abstract

Researchers at Maine Medical Center and elsewhere are using computerized medical information to study how patients make decisions about medical care, and how the choices they make affect their quality of life. Interactive videodiscs tailor information about the benefits and risks of various treatments and lifestyle changes to an individual's age, habits, medical background and symptoms, and allow the individuals to become active participants in deciding what is best for them.
