Abstract

U.S. represenative Thomas H. Andrews yesterday announced that he will vote against the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) this week. In making his announcement at the Portland International Jetport, Andrews criticized the tactics used by lobbyists on both sides of the debate and said that he would not accept any money from the AFL-CIO for his 1994 congressional campaign. Andrews was miffed because unions had threatened financial support to his campaign if he voted against the agreement. With a related article about the support of Maine business leaders for NAFTA.
