Abstract
The state Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is being urged by its own staff to increase the penalty imposed on Central Maine Power Co. (CMP), claiming the current penalty terms are inadequate. The PUC last month cited CMP for failing to properly manage contracts with independent power suppliers, which is expected to result in a reduction of the utility's rates.
