Abstract

Now that the federal government has awarded a $1,000,000 grant to the town of Wells to build a transportation center for use by Amtrak, Portland and Saco hope that they too will be able to secure an increase in federal grants to lighten the tax burdens to be placed on local taxpayers by the construction of stations in those communities. Passenger service between Portland and Boston is expected to resume next October. Details.
