Abstract

Central Maine Power Co. said that if the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) approves only one-quarter of the utility's $83 million rate-hike request the company could be crippled financially. Rate-hike opponents, however, continued to press for any rate increase, and Public Advocate Stephen Ward urged the PUC to minimize any rate increase it authorizes.
