Abstract

John Roberts Inc. of Biddeford, an employee-owned clothing company, is behind on its bank loans and is negotiating with potential investors. Charles Mercer, a spokesman for the Finance Authority of Maine (FAME), said the company needs investment capital to become more competitive. FAME will be responsible for repaying the bank loans should the company default. John Roberts received three loans in 1991 and 1992, totaling $1,035,500.
