Abstract
Bill Sheldon of Hermon, using a net, recently caught 398 juvenile striped bass in the Kennebec River in Bath. Sheldon's find is giving biologists hope that stocking the Kennebec and Androscoggin rivers, which has been occuring since 1982, is helping re-establish a native stock of bass. Merrymeeting Bay had historically supported commercial fisheries for striped bass and other species, but by the late 1920s pollution had decimated stocks. Details.
