Abstract

The Maine Maritime Museum in Bath has a $1 million annual budget, a $7 million endowment and hosts more than 60,000 visitors a year. The museum, which once was scattered in branches throughout downtown Bath, is today housed in the $3.5 million Maritime History Building on the property of the Percy & Small Shipyard several miles south of town. One of the challenges the institution faces is to develop exhibits with broad appeal to attract more women and children. Details, related article with brief history of the museum.
