Abstract

The Federal Aviation Administration plans to construct a 77-foot radar tower on 440-foot Bruce Hill in Cumberland, which when completed will afford air traffic controllers at the Portland International Jetport an unimpeded view from the New Hampshire coast to Rockland and west to Rumford. The current system, originally commissioned in Pittsburgh in 1958, has a 60-mile range, but is hampered by various obstructions. Details.
