Abstract

A demonstration project supervised by Maine Medical Center is training outreach mental-health workers to go to homes, shelters and the streets to help Portland residents in need of treatment for mental illness and substance abuse problems. The program, called assertive community treatment, is funded with $381,000 in state and private grants, with another $175,000 to come from Medicaid reimbursements. Details.
