Abstract

The state Legislature will consider a bill during the next legislative session that would allow municipalities to give tax breaks of up to 50 percent to islands that are not connected to the mainland by bridge. Under the proposed law, which would apply to 80 Maine communities, municipalities could offer island communities lower tax rates in exchange for fewer services. Details.
