Abstract

Old Orchard Beach voters on November 2 defeated a $4.5 million ocean outfall project that would bring Goosefare Brook into compliance with federal clean water laws, prompting the state Department of Environmental Protection to impose a moratorium on new sewer connections in the town until the project is approved. Town officials are now planning a public relations campaign to disseminate information about the project before a tentatively scheduled March vote. Details.
