James Thompson, executive director of the Maine Publicity Bureau, criticized the state economic development office's new strategy of spending most of the state tourism advertising budget in markets outside of New England. The total state tourism budget for this year is $3.8 million, with $725,000 of that amount going towards advertising in new development markets outside of New England. Details.
