Abstract

William Plummer IV, owner of Five Islands Boat Works in Georgetown, is once again optimistic about the boatbuilding industry after struggling for two years. An improving economy and the repeal of the 10 percent federal excise tax on boats selling for more than $100,000 has boatbuilders nationwide in agreement that the industry outlook for 1994 is good.
