Abstract

A joint study by the University of London and the Foundation for Blood Research in Scarborough has found that routine cholesterol tests fail to predict up to 75 percent of heart disease deaths. The study, published in the British medical journal Lancet, is expected to be controversial because testing cholesterol levels is a multi-million dollar business. Details, related article.
