Abstract

The South Portland Board of Education last night voted to transfer control of the 76-year-old Alice E. Sawyer School on Westbrook Street to the city. The school, formerly called the Thornton Heights Elementary School, is in need of major repairs, and has an adjoining playground, basketball court, ballfield and small skating rink. Details.
