Abstract

Steven J. Butt, 43, was convicted in Cumberland County Superior Court of two counts of criminal restraint by a parent for the kidnapping of his two children in what a prosecutor described as a means of forcing his wife to accepting a second "wife" into their family. Butts, a former Jehovah's Witness, said his religion and not his actions were on trial.
