Abstract

The First Parish Church in Portland will unveil its new $300,000 organ on Sunday, with the instrument to be dedicated to Abby Sharples Niss, the church's former music director who died in 1991 -- The organ fills a space about 20 feet wide, 16 feet high and 15 feet deep, and uses around 1,000 pipes recycled from the previous organ, which in turn took some pipes from the organ installed in the church in 1853 -- Details
