Abstract
A scientific assessment last year that showed lobsters are overfished in the Gulf of Maine, and upcoming federal laws governing the taking of lobsters in federal waters has many observers of Maine's lobster industry convinced that the state Legislature will pass regulations this year that set trap limits, put a limit on lobster licenses and impose a closed season -- The Legislature's Marine Resources Committee has held hearings recently on two new lobster bills, and it is expected that those bills will be combined into a single proposal and be sent to the Legislature -- Details, history of lobster laws in the state
