Abstract
Gary Donovan, chief of the wildlife division of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, said yesterday that public outcry over a proposal to designate beaches in 10 southern Maine towns as protected habitat for piping plovers and least terns has resulted in the state postponing until next year the implementation of the new rules -- The postponement will allow the state to hold workshops and public hearings to further publicize the need for protecting the birds -- Details
