Abstract
State legislators have acknowledged that a lack of money will keep the state from overhauling how it funds local public education for at least another year. The state has budgeted $515 million for public education for the year beginning in September, $4 million less than the current year and $114 million less than what the Maine Department of Education has calculated as the state's correct share.
