Abstract
The September closure of Loring Air Force Base in Limestone has many in town worried that the local economy will be devastated. There has already been one round of layoffs at the base, and the number of military personnel has dropped from 3,900 to 1,300. The federal government recently announced plans to locate a Job Corps training center at the base, and the Loring Development Authority continues to seek alternative uses for the facility. Details.
