Abstract

Mark Koshliek, director of operations for the John J. Nissen Baking Co. of Portland, said that a company outside of New England is interested in buying the bakery, one of the city's oldest family businesses. Discussions between Nissen and the unidentified company apparently began months ago. Nissen, which has been in operation for 94 years, employs around 300 people in Portland, and has other bakeries in Brewer, Worcester, Mass., and Rhode Island. Details.
