Abstract

Mark Koshliek, John J. Nissen Baking Co.'s director of operations, said yesterday he believes the company will soon sign an agreement to sell the family-owned business to Flowers Industries of Thomasville, Georgia. Besides Portland, Nissen's has plants in Brewer, Worcester, Mass., and West Falls, Rhode Island. Flowers Industries is the fifth-largest producer of bakery and snack foods in the United States. It had sales of $962 million in fiscal 1993.
