Abstract

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court yesterday threw out the convictions of Bryan Bourgeois, 36, of Westbrook, who was sentenced to eight years in prison for aggravated assault, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and operating under the influence. Bourgeois had allegedly attempted to injure his wife by deliberately driving his vehicle off the Maine Turnpike in 1991. The justices said an ex-wife's testimony was impermissibly prejudicial, and also faulted the prosecution for improper questioning. Details.
