Abstract

A new Maine law that requires drug manufacturers who sell large quantities of pharmaceutical drugs in the state to make their products available to all buyers for the same price is being hailed by chain drug stores as a model for other states. Supporters of the law say it should benefit Maine consumers who buy prescription drugs from community drug stores, and will prevent manufacturers from cornering the state's prescription drug market.
