Abstract

Miles Rightmire, 44, is an HIV counselor with the Maine Bureau of Health, and estimates he has tested around 5,000 people in his office at Portland City Hall. The Portland Bureau of Health office is one of nine sites in the state providing anonymous HIV testing. Last year, 5,557 Mainers met with nearly two dozen counselors like Rightmire, and 83 of them were told that they were HIV positive. Details.
