Abstract

In 1917, baseball fans attending Opening Day--then called Getaway Day--for Portland's minor-league team were treated to the likes of Fatty Arbuckle, Norma Talmadge, Adolph Zukor, William Fox and Marcus Loew. The spectacle took place at Bayside Park, a little stadium that served as home to the city's various minor-league teams from its opening in 1913 until it was razed in the 1930s. Details.
