Douglas Holmes, 49, of South Portland, a state police pilot, was flying a single-engine, state police Cessna 210 Tuesday from Portland to Waterville when an eagle struck the plane's left wing. Holmes made an emergency landing at the Augusta State Airport, and the plane sustained around $15,000 in damage. Details.
