Abstract
Roger Grenier, chief operating officer for Gleichman Co. of Portland, said that a low-income housing complex planned for Cornish was denied $1.3 million in Farmers Home Administration funding because the FHA is siding with Cornish residents who oppose the project. Residents say they don't want the 24-unit project because of its impact on local services, but Grenier claims the opposition is because the project will bring low-income people into the town.
