Abstract

The four Republican candidates for the 2nd District congressional seat being vacated by U.S. represenative Olympia Snowe addressed the GOP state convention in Augusta yesterday, hoping to gather support for their candidacies. Glenn MacNaughton of Greenville, Hollis Greenlaw of Fairfield, state representative Stephen Zirnkilton of Mount Desert and state representative Richard Bennett of Norway all called for cutting taxes, less governmental regulation, congressional term limits, a presidential line-item veto and a constitutional amendment to balance the budget.
