Abstract

Third in a series of eight articles on the Republican gubernatorial candidates. Mary Adams, 55, of Garland led the campaign to repeal a statewide property tax in the late 1970s, but has been out of political life since then. Adams, if elected, would cut the staff of the Legislature, repeal mandatory growth-management laws and restructure the procedure by which municipal property is valued as a basis for taxation.
