Abstract
Richard Griffin, 58, of Kennebunk, the former police chief in Augusta, was convicted yesterday of assault in York County Superior Court. Griffin, who retired as deputy chief of the Portland police department in 1977 after 20 years on the force, was ordered to pay a $250 fine and $74 in restitution to Louis DeAngelis of Biddeford. Griffin assaulted DeAngelis in a Biddeford doughnut shop in June 1993 while the two waited in line. Details.
