Abstract

Members of United Paperworkers' International Union Local 14 who lost their jobs during a strike at the International Paper Co. mill in Jay have started a vigil at the union hall in Jay that will continue until the U.S. Senate votes on an anti-strikebreaking bill. The bill, expected to be voted on next week, is similar to legislation passed by the Maine Legislature in 1988 and 1989 that was vetoed by Gov. John McKernan.
