Brief article reporting that the state Senate yesterday confirmed the appointment of Kermit V. Lipez of South Portland to the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. John R. Atwood of Damariscotta was confirmed to succeed Lipez on the Superior Court bench, while Supreme Court justice Samuel Collins Jr. of Rockland was confirmed as an active retired justice.
