Abstract

After 51 years of hosting thousands of Maine Army National Guard soldiers, the Stevens Avenue Armory has been targeted for closure by September. About 165 men and women of the 133rd Engineering Battalion, most of whom are part-timers, will be assigned to other facilities, probably in South Portland and Westbrook. Details, including some history of the armory.
