Abstract

The Maine Public Utilities Commission yesterday approved an agreement between Central Maine Power Co. (CMP) and Madison Electric Works under which CMP will receive nearly $10 million and enter into a power-exchange deal with Northeast Utilities, the Connecticut utility that will now supply MEI with power. One provision of the PUC order is that if Madison Paper Industries, which is switching to Northeast along with MEI, wanted to return to CMP in the future, CMP would not be obligated to service it.
