Abstract

Hugh Farrington, president and chief executive officer of Hannaford Bros. of Scarborough, announced yesterday that the company is trying to purchase an unidentified supermarket chain outside the existing Hannaford market. Hannaford, with 1993 revenues of nearly $2.1 billion, would experience a ten percent increase in revenues if the purchase takes place. The company will spend nearly $100 million to build six new supermarkets and relocate three others in 1994. Details.
