Abstract

Daryl and Deborah Twomey of Cumberland have six natural children and two adopted ones. Matthew, 5, and Samuel, 3, both have Moebius Syndrome, a rare disabling nervous-system disorder that affects very few children in the country. The two were given little chance for improvement when they were adopted, but the Twomeys are more concerned with the possibilities than the probabilities. Details.
