Abstract

The family of James A. Roe has filed suit in Cumberland County Superior Court against Westbrook police, alleging they were negligent in 1992 when they dropped Roe off at the Portland city line when he was obviously intoxicated. Roe, 27, of Old Orchard Beach, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Forest Avenue less than an hour later. Terrance G. Curran, 32, also named in the suit, is serving a two-year jail sentence after pleading guilty to aggravated drunken-driving. Details.
