Abstract

The Afghan women's sewing group, organized by the Refugee Resettlement Program of Catholic Charities Maine, this week will receive a $7,000 grant from the Maine Women's Fund. The grant, the largest ever awarded by the fund, will be used by the group to make clothing and other items decorated with Afghan embroidery. The women will sell their wares this summer at Maine fairs, allowing them to earn money as they learn skills that could help them enter the job market. Details, list of other groups receiving MWF grants.
