Abstract

Brief article reporting that the Clinton administration yesterday announced that a consortium consisting of Bath Iron Works, General Electric, Kvaerner Mesa Marine and American Automar has been awarded a $600,000 grant to help pay for a proposal to develop a high-speed, single-hulled ship. The project will attempt to spur innovative designs for fast cargo and passenger ships, and will help shipbuilders shift to commercial shipbuilding.
