Abstract

The Career Institute of Sanford, a vocational school, has the highest student default rate on Guaranteed Student Loans in the state. The school, which also owes refunds to its students of $78,747, was told yesterday by officials of Finance Authority of Maine that it must post a bond to cover the refunds and post another $50,000 bond to assure future compliance or have its participation in the Federal Family Education Loan program terminated.
