The Friends of Evergreen Cemetery will today recognize the 800 Civil War veterans buried in the cemetery, in honor of Memorial Day. Memorial Day's roots go back 128 years, when the first day of remembrance was held to specifically honor Civil War veterans. Details, information on some of the Civil War veterans buried in the cemetery.
