Abstract

Lawyers for fired Cumberland police chief Leon Planche and the town of Cumberland met throughout the week at the Portland Public Library in a closed hearing that was in many ways a repeat of last year's hearing that led to Planche's firing. The hearing officer, Brunswick lawyer Jonathan Reitman, heard testimony concerning allegations that Planche had been drinking on duty during the 1992 Cumberland Fair. A decision in the matter is expected by late summer or early fall. Details.
