Abstract

An estimated 15,000 to 20,000 spectators lined Portland's Congress Street between Congress Square and City Hall yesterday for the parade honoring the Portland Pirates, who on Sunday defeated the Moncton Hawks to win the American Hockey League's Calder Cup championship. The parade ended at City Hall, and despite lightning and torrential rain thousands of drenched hockey fans refused to leave. Details.
