Abstract

Maine Attorney General Michael E. Carpenter yesterday ruled that state representative Charlene Rydell (D-Brunswick) is constitutionally barred from serving on the Maine Health Care Reform Commission, which was created by the state Legislature earlier this year. Carpenter cited a portion of the Maine Constitution that says no legislator may serve on any paid civil office created by the Legislature in which the appointee served.
